Oven Temperatures

If you don’t want to use exact math, the temps below are pretty close. If you like math though, to convert from Centigrade to Fahrenheit: multiply the Centigrade temperature by 1.8; add 32. To convert from Fahrenheit to Centigrade: subtract 32 from the Fahrenheit temperature; multiply the result by .555

70°C = 150°F 190°C = 375°F
80°C = 175°F 200°C = 400°F
100°C = 200°F 220°C = 425°F
110°C = 225°F 230°C = 450°F
130°C = 250°F 240°C = 475°F
140°C = 275°F 250°C = 500°F
150°C = 300°F 270°C = 525°F
170°C = 325°F 290°C = 550°F
180°C = 350°F

Flour & Sugar Measurement Conversions

Volume methods for measuring amount of flour produce various results. Depending on flour density and not just on the amount, a packed cup of flour much more than a cup of sifted flour. Also, if flour or confectioner’s sugar is simply scooped by a cup, it gets packed in the bottom of the cup and the amount you have is different most times instead of being an exact measurement as it should be. This is the reason why bakers measure by weight for dry ingredients; They want to produce all batches the same.

To be sure that you have consistent results, it’s best to invest in a kitchen scale such as this one for the absolute best results. They cost only a few dollars for a good one and can save you so much pain when learning a recipe (especially when making macarons!)

That said, here are some conversions that will help if you are baking or converting a recipe that uses a measurement you’re unfamiliar with using. A warning though that your results will still probably vary a bit.
